I have bought a home made straw blower for spreading straw on a new seeded yard. It is made from an old silage blower it works pretty good now but wondering if anyone has done this before? Thanks for the help.

Hi Dana this blower that I have is made from an old silage blower you break the bales and throw into a hopper and the suction from this thing pulls in and than it comes out the hole in the top where they have installed a stove pipe adjustable elbow so you can spread left or right up or down you can also put on a piece of flexable drain pipe that is about 8" in diameter. I am going to do some more work on it. I will probably mount it on a trailer where you can load staw on back and have the blower on the front. I hope it will work I will use it alot. If you have more questions I will try to help. Maybe I can send a picture to you somtime but if you see a silage blower beside a silo it looks like that with a elbow on top instead of a pipe going to the top of the silo ....

The blower is PTO driven and I have a ford 1320 tractor it turns the blower real good. I have spread about 4 bales with it and I believe it will do good. The guy I bought the blower from had it on a trailer but wanted too much for that so I have an old trailer that I will mount it on so I can stack about 20 bales on the back. The blower has a three point hitch but he has put a longer pto shaft so that it would reach the trailer. I will be working on this thing and try to have it mounted and working good for summer. My scaner isnt working now but maybe that will be fixed soon. ....
